Thursday 2 April 2026 Year 4 shell structures Day 2 Welcome to Year 4 Shell Structures Day 2 at Wardley Primary! The children built on what they finished from day 1, using the skills they have already practised to develop stronger, more accurate shell structures. We also shared simple explanations and showing how careful measurements and teamwork help ideas become real models.

Monday 30 March 2026 Year 4 computing - coding Wardley Primary's “Year 4 computing - coding” session was a great opportunity for children to learn how they can develop key programming skills. The session introduced children to coding in a friendly, age-appropriate way, helping children understand what learning looks like in the classroom and how confidence grows through small, achievable tasks.

Monday 30 March 2026 Year 4 Trip to the Mosque Our Year 4 Trip to the Mosque was a lovely experience for the children and for parents watching them learn. The visit was well organised and made everyone feel welcome from the moment we arrived.

Friday 27 March 2026 Year 6b IntoUniversity The children had an amazing time exploring the world of engineering, learning about a range of fields including robotics, civil, environmental and automotive engineering. They also discovered how bridge structures work and experimented with ways to strengthen their own designs.

Friday 20 March 2026 Comic Relief 2026 Today, all of the children at Wardley Primary made each other laugh in order to raise lots of money for the brilliant Comic Relief charity. We decorated our own red noses, took silly class selfies and took part in hilarious joke competitions. As well as having lots of fun, we managed to raise an amazing £462. Well done and a huge thank you to everyone who took part.

Thursday 19 March 2026 Year 4 Football Tournament On Monday, a group of Year 4s attended Heworth for a futsal event. This gave the children the chance to experience what Heworth is like as a secondary school and have a go at something new for a number of them. As always, the children showed excellent behaviour and resilience.

Thursday 19 March 2026 Year 4 Forest School - part 3 On Wednesday morning, the children joined Chris again for another superb forest school. Children were once again asked to leave their comfort zones and take on new exciting challenges that are practical and will give them life skills.

Friday 13 March 2026 Hindu Temple Yesterday, Year 6 visited the Hindu temple in Newcastle and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Hindu faith. They asked lots of intriguing questions and were fascinated by the deities in the temple.

Friday 13 March 2026 World Book Day in Nursery Last week our Nursery children had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day with our fun theme of “Crazy Hair!”

Friday 6 March 2026 Year 6a IntoUniversity Days 4 and 5 Year 6A have had an incredibly exciting and busy week working with IntoUniversity, developing new skills while having lots of fun along the way.

Friday 6 March 2026 World Book Day in the Star Suite 2026 As part of our World Book Day celebrations, the children in the Star Suite read Wild by Emily Hughes. The children enjoyed listening to the story and looking at the illustrations. They were inspired to create their own version of the front cover, which shows the main character and her unusual hairstyle, using a range of collage materials. During the week, they participated in activities related to hairstyles which included designing their own hairstyles and applying their cutting skills to make models. On World Book Day itself, some of the children came to school with very creative hairstyles!

Thursday 5 March 2026 Year 4 Hockey Trip 2026 On Wednesday the 4th March, a group of Year 4 children took the metro down to Gateshead stadium to partake in a hockey tournament. Following a tough first game both teams showed amazing determination, teamwork and positive attitudes to stick at it, score some goals and win a game each. They all had such a lovely day in the warmth of the sun. Bring on the summer!

Thursday 5 March 2026 Year 4 World Book Day To celebrate World book day and the importance of friendship and togetherness, Year 4 read the book - The boy with flowers in his hair. We explored the themes of friendship and caring for each other. The children learnt that their friendships are some of the most important things they have.

Monday 2 March 2026 Year 6a - IntoUniversity Today was our first session with IntoUniversity with the focus being on careers in engineering. During the morning, we were split into groups and looked at the different types of engineering and had to complete a task relating to that particular area of engineering. The children learnt how to create the strongest and tallest free-standing tower as well as discovering what was the more effective way to clear up after an oil spill. In the afternoon, we then each looked at a different well-known engineer and found out about their life and career before completing a piece of writing all about them. This will then be used tomorrow as part of our tasks for day 2.

Friday 20 February 2026 Spring 1 Awards Assembly Today marks the end of another incredible and full on half term. As always our children have gone from strength to strength and grown so much over the half term.

Friday 20 February 2026 Chinese New Year in the Star Suite This week, the children in the Star Suite have been learning all about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated. At the beginning of the week, they listened to the story of the Great Race and found out that each year is named after 1 of 12 animals. 2026 is the Year of the Horse.

Thursday 19 February 2026 Chinese New Year 2026 This week in Nursery, we have been learning all about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated around the world, especially in China and other Asian countries. We have had such a busy and exciting time!
