Snow Play in Reception
Last week, the Reception class enjoyed a sensory snow afternoon. Some of the children chose to explore the snow-covered garden, where they worked together to collect snow using spades and fill buckets as a team. They mixed the snow with colourful dyes, experimenting as they went.
To enhance the sensory experience, we added a variety of scents to the snow. The children enthusiastically explored mixing different colours and aromas, eventually creating a beautiful rainbow picture in the tuff tray. Their teamwork was outstanding, and they spoke kindly and respectfully to one another throughout the activity.
The children also had the opportunity to paint directly onto the snow using paintbrushes, developing their gross motor skills as they created large, expressive patterns. It was a wonderful day filled with creativity, cooperation, and sensory exploration.
