• Friday 2 October 2026 Year 6 - Air Resistance Experiment This afternoon, Year 6 explored air resistance through a practical science investigation. The children designed and created their own parachutes before testing them and timing how long they took to fall. They investigated how air resistance affects the speed of a falling object, using their observations to develop their understanding of forces and fair testing. They enjoyed working together in order to test their own predictions.
• Friday 2 October 2026 Friendship in the Star Suite Miss Oliphant's class this week have had a fantastic time learning all about friendship. The children have worked together to build models, complete jigsaws and share books. They have talked about what it means to be a good friend and have listened to stories all about friendship. They have made friendship bracelets for their friends and have made pictures showing them with their friends.
• Thursday 1 October 2026 Friendship Fun in Reception What a wonderful week we have had in Reception, learning all about how to be a good friend. The children have worked beautifully together, building huge towers and creating potions collaboratively as well as making pictures of their friends using lots of different media. It has been lovely to watch the children's kindness and cooperation shine!

• Friday 18 September 2026 Back to school - Year 2A Year 2A have made a fantastic and smooth transition back to school and have been trying so hard as they settle into their new year group and curriculum. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm, resilience and positive attitudes towards their learning.
• Friday 18 September 2026 The Star Suite Street The theme is Miss Oliphant's class this week has been “Our homes and families.” The children have been taking part in a range of creative activities linked to the theme including building homes using construction kits, drawing members of their family and engaging in role play in the home corner. The staff have been particularly impressed at the children's creativity and focus in their art task which took them 4 days to complete. They made a mixed media picture of their house which involved applying their skills of painting, printing, drawing and cutting. The pictures have been displayed in the classroom in our Star Suite Street and they look fantastic!
• Friday 18 September 2026 Year 6 Hockey Year 6 have settled back into school really well and have made a fantastic start to the new term. This term, we are working with the Newcastle United Foundation in our P.E. lessons to develop our hockey skills and deepen our understanding of the game. Today, we practised how to hold the hockey stick correctly, dribbling and passing skills before putting everything into practice during some mini matches. The children worked brilliantly as a team, showing great support and encouragement towards each other. Well done, Year 6!
• Thursday 17 September 2026 Reception Handwriting Skills In Reception at Wardley Primary, children begin developing the foundations for handwriting through fun, purposeful activities. At this stage, the focus is on building strong fine motor skills, good hand control, and confidence with mark-making. Children practise using a range of tools such as pencils, crayons and paintbrushes, while also learning how to hold them comfortably and steadily.
• Tuesday 15 September 2026 Year 3B Gymnastics The Year 3B class have been enjoying their gymnastic lessons since the start of term. They have been developing their balancing skills on different pieces of equipment. It has been lovely watching them be creative and working together to come up with lots of different poses and positions whilst remaining balanced.

• Friday 10 July 2026 Year 5 learn to surf The Year 5 children had a wonderful day learning how to surf at South Shields beach. We were lucky to go on such a beautiful day. The children all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it was amazing to see so many of them managing to stand up on the surfboard. The children demonstrated resilience, perseverance and the ability to take risks and be willing to fail. A huge thankyou to all the parents/carers who helped us on the day - your support is much appreciated.
• Friday 26 June 2026 Team 38154D win Prestigious Young Achievers Award We are delighted to announce that Team 38154D has won the prestigious Young Achievers Award at the recent Gateshead Awards, a fantastic recognition of the hard work, problem solving, and dedication shown by our pupils.

• Wednesday 10 June 2026 Reception visit to Washington Wetlands Our Reception children enjoyed an exciting and memorable visit to Washington Wetlands Centre, where they took part in a wonderful workshop based on the story 'Ava's Destiny'.

• Thursday 21 May 2026 Computing in Y3 In Year 3 computing, the children have started to understand coding as a set of clear instructions and learn how to think step-by-step to solve problems. They practised programming a turtle to move forward/ backward and turn to write their initials. Children coded loops and procedures, which was more efficient to create a desired outcome. We spent some time practising and using trial and error to make progress.
• Thursday 14 May 2026 Well Done Year 6 A huge congratulations to all of our Year 6 children for completing SATs week! You should all feel incredibly proud of yourselves for the determination, resilience and positive attitude you have shown throughout the week. We are so proud of the hard work, focus and perseverance you have demonstrated, as well as the kindness and support you have shown to one another. You have all approached the challenge with maturity and confidence, and now it's time to celebrate your fantastic achievement — well done, Year 6!
• Wednesday 13 May 2026 Reception - Flower Planting Today, Reception decided to make our garden area look more inviting. As we have been learning about flowers this week and how to care for them, we decided to plant some seeds. We carefully followed the steps for planting flowers and worked together in teams to plant a variety of summer flowers. We hope the rainy weather will help our plants to grow, and we can't wait to see them bloom!
• Wednesday 13 May 2026 Reception Fine Motor Skills - Summer 2026 Reception have been developing their fine motor skills to support pencil control and build muscle strength. This week, they have been scrunching tissue paper to create flower petals, using playdough to make small petals for a petal-less flower, and using tweezers to pick up pom-poms to create repeating patterns.

• Monday 11 May 2026 Year 3 Forest School - Summer 1 This half term, children in Y3 have enjoyed hands-on learning outdoors, including fire-based activities such as toasting bread, while practising respectful behaviour and following clear safety routines at every stage. The session focused on collecting sticks and using them responsibly to start a fire, helping pupils build confidence, teamwork and a deeper understanding of the natural environment. The children toasted bread and sweets to enjoy, after singing around the fire.
• Thursday 7 May 2026 Year 4 art gallery trip We were excited to be invited to the Laing art gallery, where your children have had the chance to explore inspiring portraits and learn more about how artists capture people's personalities through colour, detail and expression. It was a brilliant new experience that supported our learning in a fun, hands-on way.
• Thursday 7 May 2026 Reception Puppet Workshop Reception had a fantastic time working in partnership with the Theatre Royal and freelance artist Anna to create some amazing World Cup themed animal mascots out of socks!
