We Are Artists! 🎨
The children in Year 2B have been busy exploring what it means to be an artist during their ‘I Am An Artist’ art topic. They have enjoyed experimenting with a range of materials and discovering how artists can create different lines, textures, patterns and marks.
The children explored mark-making, finding out how pencils, crayons, pens and charcoal can create different effects. They discovered that changing the pressure or angle of a material can produce very different marks, and investigated how lines can vary in length, width, direction and shape.
Colour has also played an important part in our learning. The children developed their knowledge of the primary colours: red, blue and yellow, and learned how Wassily Kandinsky used primary colours within his artwork.
We also explored the work of Paul Klee and Piet Mondrian, looking particularly at the use of bold black lines and primary colours. The children learned about the difference between abstract and representational art before applying their developing skills to create artwork of their own.
We are incredibly proud of their creativity. Take a look at some of our fantastic young artists’ work!
