Interfaith Week 2026

We have had a wonderful and enriching Interfaith Week at school, giving our children the opportunity to learn more about different religions and the beliefs and traditions of people in our local community.
As part of the week, we welcomed Rev Lucy Moss from St Mary’s Church and Andy Gawn from Jesmond Parish Church, who helped the children learn more about Christianity. We also welcomed Kirtida, who shared her knowledge and experiences of Hinduism with the children.
The children also took part in an engaging workshop provided by the Islamic Diversity Centre, which helped us to develop our understanding of Islam and the beliefs and practices of Muslims.
The purpose of Interfaith Week is to help children learn more about different religions, develop understanding and respect, and appreciate the diversity of the communities around them. It is a wonderful opportunity for children to ask questions, challenge misconceptions and discover the similarities and differences between different faiths.
Our children listened beautifully throughout the sessions and asked lots of thoughtful and interesting questions. It was fantastic to see how curious they were and how much they enjoyed learning more about the faiths of the people around them.
A huge thank you to all of our visitors for giving their time, sharing their knowledge and helping to make Interfaith Week such a valuable and enjoyable experience for our children.
