Year 6 Visit Beamish - Climate Change Project

Year 6 had an excellent day at Beamish Museum today as part of their ongoing Climate Change Project. During their visit, the children explored how our carbon footprint has changed from the 1820s to the 1950s, learning about how industrial and lifestyle changes have contributed to the increase in carbon emissions over time.

As part of their efforts to help mitigate the effects of climate change, the children took part in a tree planting activity, planting beech trees to form a new hedgerow. This hands-on experience not only supported their learning but also helped them make a positive contribution to the environment.

We’re so proud of Year 6 for their enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the day. 🌱 In future years, they’ll be able to return and see how their trees have grown which is a lasting reminder of their commitment to caring for our planet. 💚
