Year 4 computing - coding
Wardley Primary’s “Year 4 computing - coding” session was a great opportunity for children to learn how they can develop key programming skills. The session introduced children to coding in a friendly, age-appropriate way, helping children understand what learning looks like in the classroom and how confidence grows through small, achievable tasks.
A highlight was the focus on shapes, where children used simple instructions to create clear patterns and designs. This made the purpose of coding easy to grasp, showing how logical steps can be turned into visual results.
The sessions also explained the importance of repeat commands, demonstrating how pupils can save time and solve challenges more efficiently by using loops. Overall, the session connected learning to real practice and introduced families to Turtle Academy, reinforcing how coding concepts can be built step by step while encouraging curiosity and persistence.
