Year 1 visit Pelaw Library

Our Year 1 class had a fantastic visit to Pelaw Library, filled with stories, songs, and lots of excitement. The children began their trip by settling down to listen to two engaging stories, capturing their imaginations and sparking plenty of smiles and laughter.

After story time, the fun continued with a series of action songs. The children especially enjoyed joining in with “Walking Through the Jungle,” using actions and voices to bring the song to life. It was wonderful to see everyone so enthusiastic and confident.

Next, the class split into two groups. One group explored the library shelves and carefully chose a book to take back to school, while the other group took part in interactive phonics games, reinforcing their learning in a fun and playful way. The groups then swapped activities so everyone had the chance to experience both.

Before leaving, the children had the opportunity to stamp their own books, which added an extra sense of responsibility and pride. We returned to school with our chosen stories, ready to enjoy sharing them together over the next two weeks.
