Early Talk Boost in Nursery

Over the past 8 weeks, a group of our nursery children have taken part in the Early Talk Boost intervention programme, focusing on developing their listening, attention, and communication skills.
The sessions were brought to life through the much-loved characters Jake and his toy tiger, Tizzy, who helped guide the children through each week’s activities. The familiar routines and stories created a warm and engaging environment where children felt confident to join in, listen carefully, and express themselves.
Each session was packed with exciting, hands-on experiences. The children explored musical instruments, played interactive games, and enjoyed blowing bubbles to support attention and turn-taking. They also took part in practical activities such as trying new foods and making sandwiches, which provided rich opportunities to build vocabulary and practise speaking in full sentences.
Music played an important role in the sessions, with the children learning a new song each week. These songs helped reinforce language patterns and supported memory and listening skills in a fun and engaging way.
To strengthen the home-school link, each child took home their very own Jake and Tizzy book, allowing them to revisit the stories and continue practising their skills with their families.
We are incredibly proud of the progress the children have made over the 8 weeks. They have shown improved attention, greater confidence in speaking, and a growing ability to communicate with others.
