Gifted Mathematicians at Wardley....

On Thursday 3rd March, Wardley Primary hosted a Gifted and Talented Mathematics challenge for the Heworth Grange Cluster, which was aimed at the who's who of Mathematicians in each school! Wardley, Whitemere and Bill Quay all took part and it was a fantastic morning. All the children were excellent competitors and exemplary pupils, treating each other with mutual respect, through their mutual love of Mathematics!! It was a close call during the 2 hours, with each team always a point within top spot after each round. It came down to the very last round, quickfire mental questioning! The schools kept swapping first position, with Whtiemere coming out as eventual winners with 35 points, Bill Quay on 33, and Wardley (Ethan Marata, Marco Arboleda, Bethany Kendall and Harry Lewins) on 32. The children all received prizes for their efforts and it was a great chance for the children to meet future peers at Heworth too. Everyone had a great time and a big thanks goes to Miss McMullan from Heworth for arranging transport to Wardley!

I really enjoyed the Gifted Mathematicians quiz. I hope we could do it again but next year were in high school

That maths competition was very fun. The final decision was very close. Although we came third, I really enjoyed it.
