On Thursday 10th February Year 6 visited the Emirates Riverside cricket ground in Chester-le-Street as part of their Literacy through sport Outreach programme. The children recorded a match report in the actual Sky Sports studio, using teleprompters and visual cues. They then took part in a bowling competition where we managed to knock down 18 stumps from 124 balls, a very impressive ratio indeed! The final activity of the day was definitely the highlight - the children got to meet and quiz a professional cricketer, Ruel Braithwaite, who has just signed for Durham. We found out some interesting facts: like he can bowl at speeds of up to 90mph, faster than cars on the motorway!

It was a great day and an experience that we will never forget!

It was one of the best experiences I've ever experience, to see an actual cricketer, to record our scripts and to see the ground. I want to go there again

I loved it !!!
