St Oswald's Hospice Sponsored Walk
On Wednesday 10th June, Year 5 and 6 took part in the 2009 St Oswald's Hospice Sponsored Walk. The event took place at Gateshead International Stadium and the children (and teachers) were required to walk 4km for charity. Prior to the day, they each gathered sponsors which will now be collected and donated to St Oswald's Hospice. All of the children had a fantastic day and luckily it stayed dry.
As part of our trip to Gateshead International Stadium we were able to consider event management which linked to our 'Sporting Heroes' topic. When we were back at school we discussed the organisational, costing, safety and planning issues involved in event management. Having experience of the St Oswald's Sponsored Walk, allowed the children to appreciate the huge amount of preparation and work that is involved in organising a major sporting/charity event.

hi,
lovely to see your photos. I used to go to Wardley infants when I was little. Pity we didn't have wonderful events like these!
My 18 year old son was volunteering for the hospice and is in the background to one of your photos as jiggy the jigsaw!! Is there any chance of getting a copy of this please?
