In the style of St Bede

Jane Gosling came to our school from Bede's World to show us how to use a quill pen and ink. We made our Christmas cards using the same style of writing that St Bede and the other monks would have used in St Paul's Monastery in Jarrow.

pen 2 We started by practising the alphabet, then we had to write our name. Finally, we wrote out the inside of our Christmas cards.

It was important to make sure that there was not too much ink on the quill pen but we had blotting paper just incase!!!

The writing is COOL!! I would love to write like that all the time. The ink pens were EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i thought it was really really good but it was a bit tricky jane was a really good teacher though
