School Council is back!
It's not only American's that have been listening to campaigns over the last few weeks, we, in Wardley have had our own elections too. Children had the chance to nominate themselves to be class representatives on the School Council. After a lot of listening to extremely persuasive candidates from the rest of us, votes were cast, counted and verified and we have our new council for 2008 - 2009.
Representing Key Stage 1 are: Reece Bell and Lara Holden,
In Lower Key Stage 2 for Year 3 there is: Jordan Dooley, Casey Bencito and Oliver Barnett and for Year 4: William Crone, Ryan Pilcher and Ryan Gaffney.
Finally in Upper Key Stage 2 the representatives are Jessie Stell, Owen Jobson, Zara Thompson, Emma Wells, Rhys Mitcheson and Bethany Frizzel.
Just so you understand why these children were chosen, we have used PSHCE sessions as well as inerviewed teachers to come up with a blurb about each in turn.
According to Mr Evans, Reece and Lara will be "excellent choices as they are not afraid to speak up and give their views. Both will remember lots of information from their class mates as well as what they do in meetings with the rest of the School Council."
Ryan Gaffney is a full time football fanatic and when he volunteered to give up his own time for his peers, the class knew he was committed! Oliver already has a year's experience of School Council so the class felt this would be beneficial too. Casey's bubbly personality and her enthusiasm towards everything in the school world made her the perfect choice for supporting and improving school life. William is very enthusiastic about anything to do with the children and his class thought some of his 'wacky ideas' would be perfect to keep things fun in school. Jordan blew his class away with his super presentation that he'd done at home and all of his promises were to do a good job for everyone in the class. Likewise with Ryan Pilcher; by giving up his time, the class knew that he would do a good job for them and work hard at making Wardley the best school to be in.
Rhys Mitcheson and Owen Jobson are going to make sure that Yr 6 boys are not fogotten about and Bethany, Jessie, Zara and Emma will ensure there is equality for the girls too.
Any issues and these are the team to find who can sort it out!
